Christmas Stocking
Hexagons are the Best-agons
I’m not sure why this became phrase became a thing in The Hughes House, but it’s true: “Hexagons are the best-agons” and now that I’ve learned how to do a crochet hexagon, we’ve been saying it a little bit more. 🤏
If learning a granny square is one a milestone for crocheters, then learning a hexagon is another one. I became inspired to learn to do hexagons when I saw Briana K’s stocking pattern/tutorial. While I haven’t tried the motifs in hers, I knew I wanted to learn a basic one first. I also was determined to use up some of the yarn that I already have 😅
My go-to for tutorials and well-explained step-by-step instructions is Hooked By Robin: Rainbow Hexagon.
Putting it all together
While Briana was the inspiration, figuring out how to align and place the hexagons was thanks to Fiber Flux’s Youtube tutorial. I chose a different seam than Jennifer, but the layout and how to join them was completely from her blog/video.
Slightly Obsessed
I’ve already started two more stockings - likely for the 2024 Hughes Family Christmas Mantle. But I’m definitely wanting to try my hand at Briana’s lovely stockings! 🧦
