Notion: Changing the game for me

I love Notion. It solves most of note taking and habit tracking needs all in one very user friendly and convenient tool.

The Problem

For some reason, I love the power of a good tracker: to do lists, habit tracking, food logs, workout logs, any way to measure progress I love! ❤️

But I couldn’t find a tool/method that worked for me - and I mean REALLY worked for me.
I love writing things down and I adore physical notebooks and planners, but I hated that half my things were in notebooks and the other half were in my phone. I found that the lack of integration with my phone/laptop was a huge hindrance. I ended up doing double-entry-duty.
I had found a digital planner app that I loved (shout-out Artful Agenda), but the mobile interface was kind of clunky and there wasn’t enough customization for how I like to take notes.

The Solution for me: Notion

What I wanted was flexibility
To have a single page where I could be BOTH an open text doc to take notes AND a way to have a To Do list in the same spot; I found other apps were either text OR to-do list. I wanted both.
When I came across Notion and started playing around with the note taking features as well as the flexible database structure to make tackers (plus the various views), I. Was. Hooked.
And it works seamlessly on my laptop AND phone without a degraded user experience!!

Over the last several months I've been using Notion to track pretty much everything in my life.
✅ Daily To Do Lists
✅ Habit Tracking
✅ Workout Logs
✅ Note Taking
✅ Gratitude Journal
…..and, even though I’d be willing to pay for it, so far the Free Plan has done everything I desire. 🧑‍🍳👌

The Exceptions

  1. My Budget/Spending Spreadsheets
Pretty much the only thing I find I can't use it for is my Actual Spending Spreadsheet. I track my finances using a Google sheet and Notion just lacks a lot of the spreadsheet functions I use. Why do I use a Google sheet and not an app like Mint or YNAB or something like that; quite frankly, I have set up a Google sheet format that I like and I’m too stubborn to move away from it, while also giving apps access to my financial info. No thanks.
  1. My Work Stuff
I still use a Supernote for note taking for work; my brain just retains details way better when I write things down. But overall, Notion is my go-to tool now.
