Snow Day ❄️

Last year, after a big snow/ice storm, I made sure to order Snow Gear for Hudson and me — just in case. And this year, we got to actually put it to the test: did I buy the right stuff? The answer: “Heck yes! (and thank goodness)”
Friday afternoon, we were granted a Half Snow Day at work, so I got to experience snow time with Hudson and some of our neighbors. Throwing snowballs, sledding, and building some snow structures.

Last year, Holden and Hudson built a giant ice/snow wall. I didn’t have the patience that Holden did, but we did make a tiny wall this time. I also saw a “snow painting” video on social media; at first, Hudson didn’t want to actually paint, he wanted to play with his trucks (understandably), but he did manage to actually DO the activity, so I count it as a win!

Learning Responsibilities 👕

We introduced the concept of money to Hudson last summer. He has a “money bank” for his quarters. Over the past year, we’ve given him money, but now I’m starting to let him opt in to ways to earn money through chores. There’s definitely going to be a day where he will have to do things because he lives in the house, but for right now, I’m presenting him with opportunities to earn money through “extra” things (hanging his shirts, folding dish towels, putting silverware away, etc).
(After previously receiving $0.50 for helping fold dish towels)
Me: “Hudson, do you want to help me fold some of your laundry after school?”
Hudson: “Yes. And I would like Fifty Dollars!”
(He got fifty cents for this) 🤑

Sensory Win! ⛏️

Almost every day, I get pictures from Hudson’s daycare that show him playing in their sensory bin. So I made a DIY version. And it's been a hit!
Old white rice ✅
Beans ✅
Old pasta ✅
Throw in some of his digging toys and he will be entertained (without screens!) for a long time!

Hooked on Nothing…🧶

My crochet adventure for January was pretty much “Learn new square motif and crochet a bunch of them, but not enough to make anything yet” 🥲
And surprisingly, I only have one photo of the “puff stitch” square I've been working on 🥲

The other one I've been doing a lot is the circle/polka dot motif I learned a couple months ago. I have been using this beautiful Lion Brand Color Theory Yarn though and I love it. The colors look so good together. I can't wait to mix and match the colors to see what I can create (if I ever truly finish anything 🥲)
