I attempt my second cardigan; this time, one for autumn

Autumn Cardigan 🍂
Another Cardigan Adventure
I attempted a summer cardigan earlier this year and it was a disappointing failure. But, I did not let it deter me from trying again…but this time, I decided to go with a cardigan pattern that would be more suitable for fall. This one is also constructed differently (”flat construction” as it’s described), so instead of creating individual panels, I just crocheted it all as one gigantic piece.

Progress is….progress
One of the hardest things about this project was the shear size of it. It being one continuous piece was nice because I could see progress, but the fact that I didn’t feel like I was “done” until it was “done” made this project drag on and on and on, mentally.
Also, flipping this over and over and over to get the ribbing done was a workout in itself.

New Tools: Game changer
While working on this cardigan, I realized that most of the lighting in my house isn’t super suitable for crocheting. My office and our living room has softer lighting and it’s “fine”, but I desired something better, so I bought a wearable reading light and it has been a game changer. It probably looks super dorky when I wear it, but it allows light to shine directly on my work which makes it easier to see all my stitches, which is especially helpful with a dark yarn.
NOTE: This is actually marketed as a “reading neck lamp”, so if you like to read and need more light, I highly recommend this guy!
My favorite things about this one
I’m so proud of this one. I was worried that when everything was said and done, it wouldn’t be comfortable or I wouldn’t actually like it. But I do!
Once I finished it and blocked it a little (I probably could have done this more often throughout the project and I definitely need to buy more blocking tools for larger projects like this), I am really loving it.

My favorite features: The puff stitch rows and the ribbing. Something about those small details really make this cardigan pop!
It took three attempts to get the ribbing correct, which was annoying, but glad I finally figured out how to do it!
