The story behind a motivational cross stitched inspired by Connections, a New York Times game
Jul 17, 2024
I am all about routines, especially morning routines. I want to feel like I'm starting my day on a good foot.
But given that Hudson is an early-riser like me, how I start my mornings can vary wildly; sometimes I am up and able to have some Me Time before Hudson pads into the kitchen. Sometimes I’m awakened by his entrance in to our bedroom.
But here are the Morning Essentials for me, no matter what order it happens in.
Connections is always the wildcard. If you’re not familiar, Connections is a word game where you are given 16 words and you have to categorize them into 4 groups of 4. Somehow those 4 words are related. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you’re like “WTF, NYT!” (The New York Times owns Wordle, Connections, Strands, and other daily games).
Once you guess correctly or run out of tries, the categories are revealed. Generally, the scale of “easiness” of the category goes Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. For me, the dopamine hit/ego boost is real when I get a non-Yellow category first. And if I get Purple first, watch out - I’m gonna be unstoppable for the rest of the day.
But if you don’t get them all in 4 tries, you get the dreaded “Try Again Tomorrow” message.
Anyways….
I made this Motivational Cross Stitch as a reminder that “If at first you don’t succeed, try again tomorrow” with the Connections theme. 🪡\
If at first you don't succeed, try again tomorrow.
….and, as fate would have it, I actually had to do this one twice because I finished the first attempt and realized that the alignment was off and that I thought it would look better if the rows were closer together.
