During my most recent Thanksgiving trip, I made a chunky dragon

Chunky Dragon
How it started
Two things to know:
Packing for a road trip looks different these days; I never leave for a long-distance trip without something to crochet.
The reason I got into crocheting was this: an impulse purchase for a “Crochet a Dragon” kit at B&N. Which included this book. Nowhere did it say it was “beginner friendly…because it's not…but I bought the kit anyway 😆
I set out to crochet a dragon from the book. I picked a two-colored one (because traveling with two colors seemed easiest).
How it went
Lo and behold, I didn’t have enough red and had to run out to get more yarn. After a trip to Joann’s (which was “so inconvenient” — said no crocheter ever), I spent a majority of our Thanksgiving trip, sitting and listening to Harry Potter movies while crocheting (I didn’t actually watch any of them because crocheting and trying to keep count of all the stitches required 99% of my attention). Luckily, my sister-in-law is also an avid crocheter, so I had a Stitching Buddy and wasn’t just the weirdo on the couch surrounded by yarn and polyfil stuffing.
This one required making separate body parts and then sewing them all together. So each night, I was just accumulating a lot of awkwardly and inappropriately shaped dragon body parts 😂
Also, I haven't used Bernat Blanket for much outside of blankets. And this guy turned out HUGE compared to the amigurumi I've made before 😆
At the end of the project, I realized that I didn’t want to travel with this giant hunk of a dragon back, so I left it for Catherine to enjoy! She was super helpful in making it (by sharing her polyfil stuffing and also showing me to how to close the various parts because the book’s words made zero sense to me). Gifting crochet items (well, any of my creations) is also one of my favorite things!
