Blanket Fever

What happens when I discover new pattern ideas? Utter fixation!

I've got a problem

I suppose I could have more expensive hobbies. Yarn is certainly more expensive than embroidery/cross-stitch floss, but in the grand scheme of thing, not THAT expensive, I suppose.
But the problem is, I KEEP BUYING IT! And I haven’t used all the yarn I currently have.
The things I want to make keep changing because I keep stumbling upon new patterns for things to make.

See What Had Happened Was….

It started recently when I came across a Youtube video of a creation by CJ Designs called The Cloud Blanket. I didn’t have the same colors, but I’ve had several skeins of Bernat Blanket yarn that I bought from Michael’s ages ago. I figured I would try out the pattern to see how I liked it. I’m one entire skein in (Pink Dust). And I have more yarn on the way.

In the meantime, I decided to pivot away from making Holden a granny square blanket and instead make a blanket using Bernat Blanket yarn. 1) I love the way it feels and I am certain it will make a snuggly soft blanket and 2) I love using patterns/yarn that build up really quickly. And with this yarn being Super Bulky (Weight 6), it builds up really quickly, which is incredibly satisfying.

This morning, I started a new blanket, following a pattern from Bella Coco that utilizes half double crochets. It’s a really wide blanket, but the half doubles build up so quickly, so the progress (and accompanying dopamine hit) is making me not dread crocheting. I’m actually in a “fixation” phase because I just want to keep crocheting!

Here’s to also hoping that Michael’s keeps this color in stock - it’s so much faster to go there to pick up yarn than it is to wait for it to be shipped to me 🤞

So, if you’re wondering what I’m up to in terms of crocheting: I got Blanket Fever and the only Prescription is More Blanket Yarn!
