The Life Things 🏫
Hudson started kindergarten. And so far, the ONLY thing I really have a pulse on is that his favorite thing is recess and so that’s what I ask him about every single day. I’m sure he does other stuff, but most of the time it’s “Umm…I don’t remember”. He also loves the after-school program (and sometimes gets mad when I pick him up, and I quote, “too early”). My hypothesis is that he really likes it because he gets to play.
He’s also been kicking BUTT at reading! He really picked up reading during his last couple months at preschool and it hasn’t let up. So far over the past 3 months, he’s finished 10 books! 🎉
Six years later, I’m finally moving into my house. Holden and I finished painting my office and I actually have decor in here. 😆 Paint and decor can really transform a space. 🪴 I really love it, which is a huge deal considering how much time I spend in here.
Probably my single favorite addition to my office: shelves on which to display faux plants and cross stitches.
The Faith Things ⛪
I am at a place in life where I want strong friendships and a strong community and I know that I have to be intentional in seeking and creating it; it won’t just happen.
Earlier this month, Holden and I stepped out in faith to lead a community group through our church. I had been feeling “the tug” for a while to do something MORE for a while. Even though we’ve only just started meeting, God has been preparing me for this for a while.
The Crochet Things 🧶
I finished my “South Carolina Gamecocks” blanket for Holden. It was once again a labor of love.
10 skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn later and what felt like a billion hours later...
I made a giraffe for Hudson. When I started learning to crochet, I made him a fox and the next thing he asked for was a giraffe. I finally delivered (a year and a half later 😅)
I also started another blanket (this time for me)…A creator I have admire and that I love is Hooked by Robin. A few months back, she announced a collaboration with Crochet Society that provides all the materials for Robin’s iconic Festival Blanket. And I immediately reacted by saying “TAKE MY MONEY!”
The box arrived this month and I have thrown myself into learning these new squares. I love doing granny squares - they provide the dopamine hit I need because I can check a mental box off when I finish one: “1 down, 79 to go” 😆 🥲 🧶
At the time of this blog post, I’ve completed 18/80 and all the star pieces. I am in love so far, EXCEPT for all the weaving in ends (it’s the woooorst) 🪡
