Taking some time to reflect on the past year and celebrate all that I’ve learned
Dec 31, 2024
“I can do hard things”
This has been the mantra for me this year, it seems. When I look back at all that I’ve accomplished this year, there is the theme of trying new things, being bad at them, trying to “embrace the suck”, and learning whatever I can through it all.
I learned a new skill (crochet) that has basically taken over my life 🤣 And with each new project, I aim to either learn something new or improve on a skill that I’ve known how to do for a while.
I ran a 5K this year. I had hoped to run more, but other things took priority. But running up a very steep hill in downtown Nashville and making it all the way to the top felt really good! 🏃♀️
I hiked Mt. LeConte this year with the Product Team at Realtracs. As a self-proclaimed “indoor person”, with the exception of running (when I actually do it), I knew this was going to be a challenge. The entire experience was out of my comfort zone, but I’m proud that I did it! ⛰️
I cooked more this year! I’m not a good cook by any means, but I’m trying! For me, cooking isn’t “fun”; for me, there’s a lot of pressure to deliver a delicious meal every time — and I just don’t always do that. 😫 As our family schedules have been gaining more activities, I’ve tried to be intentional about cooking more to allow us to eat together on the evenings we can. I have a small set of recipes that 1) are relatively easy to make and don’t require a ton of extra ingredients we don’t have in the cabinets and 2) people [aka Hudson] will eat. 🍝
Looking ahead
The goal for 2025 is to continue to carry this mindset with me. To push myself. To grow. To never stop trying and learning. I’ve been reading The 5AM Club (after hearing about it on the Handsome podcast) and I’ve been feeling incredibly motivated by the idea of being really intentional about my mornings. So far, I’ve failed at getting up at 5AM (It’s been 5:30AM Club for me 😅), but I have definitely been putting some of the ideas into practice. Looking forward to seeing how I can be transformed in 2025 if I keep rising early. 🌄
